Schooner America Design 1897
Built by Goudy & Stevens Shipyard of Boothbay, Maine this replica of America was built for Rudolph J. Schaefer, Jr., head of Schaefer Brewing. America was the first to win the Americas Cup in 1851. This replica was launched on the 3rd of May 1967, 116 years to the day after the original was launched.
This should not be confused with the replica that was built and launched in San Diego in 1995.
